Sway is a village nestled within the stunning landscapes of the New Forest National Park. There are plenty of village amenities including an Award-Winning Butcher's shop, 2 Pubs both in walking distance from Butcher's Cottage, a Post Office, a Café/Deli (where you can buy delicious sour dough bread & hire electric bicycles), a General store, a Train Station, a Doctors and a Pharmacy. Sway is a great location to explore the New Forest National Park both on foot and via a bicycle.
The New Forest dates to 1066 when it was formed as William the Conquers hunting ground. Consisting of woodland, heathland, and moorlands it covers an area of over 140,000 acres giving visitors space to explore the wonderful nature and countryside contained within its boundaries. Free roaming New Forest ponies, donkeys and cattle are joined in the autumn months by pigs turned out for pannage (to eat the acorns) as well as British wildlife (Deer, Buzzards, Badgers.....)
Located on the South Coast, Butcher's Cottage is a great location to explore the Solent. From ancient forts dating back to Henry the VIII, trips over to the Isle of Wight, boat rides to view the Needles or on the water activities including coastal rowing, kayaking and paddle boarding it is all available locally. There are numerous local beaches stretching along the Solent to Bournemouth all only a short car drive/cycle away, there is also a local train for those without a vehicle
